Almost everyone wanted to be my Vassal (a greatly missed thing from Civ V). One time in Civ IV I made a game with the donut looking map, and played as Rome (I think).Īnyways I ended up being very peaceful, and the most powerful Civ on the planet. Here's one of my more serious ones: I call this the Vassal Wars: The other Civs don't seem to have a problem with it though. 8 million dead, I deployed paratroopers on the city, took it, and now I'm their best friend, despite shrinking their population down to 6,000 people, and irradiating the landscape. I was hoping that it would be less appealing to Russia, with the fallout, and all so that they would be more likely to give it up. I dropped one nuke on Brussels, killing a million. I dropped 2 nukes: 1 on Moscow killing another 2 million (and their space program), and the other on a city just south on Brussels, killing yet another 2 million citizens. They did a first strike tactic, and nuked one of my cities, killing 2.5 million citizens, and destroying 2 nukes. I asked again several turns later for peace, and the city.

So from no where I dropped a nuke on Moscow killing around 4 million citizens in one attack. I demanded Russia hand over Brussels, three times, once each turn. So with Nuclear Non-Proflieration Treaty in play soon, I stock piled 8 Atomic Bombs. To get the Liberation Bonus, I thought would be a nice perk (and my foreign adviser was advising war (seriously, out of all the advisers on a rank of who's a warmonger, she takes first)). So, I attempt to start building a neutral-tall-single-city-nation, and I remained neutral for most of the game, up until Russia took over Brussels. So now I'm running long tests to find the functions which might cause the crashes. In general, it is pretty safe to make changes early in-game on the first turn (except the impassable-to-passable and water to lands and vice versa). It was not changed with the mod updates and if you start to get crashes after some mod update it does not related to this update in 99% of the cases it just your game went to the stage where the significant map updates are not safe anymore. The game was not designed to use these functions in mid-game after the players and AI appears on the map and this is the main reason for the crashes. These functions are used by the game on the map generation stage before the game starts. Mod uses game testing and map generation functions to make map changes. The only way is to load the save game made before the problematic change was done but the crash may happen 400+ turns later and you literally can lose all progress. The problem with crashes is that they happen on some turn later in-game and it is not possible to continue the game because it will repeat on that turn no matter what you do.
